World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards partners with Tourism Economics

The World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards partners with Tourism Economics to deliver data-based insights supporting sustainable tourism growth globally.

The World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards (WSTHA) has announced a strategic partnership with Tourism Economics, an Oxford Economics company, aimed at advancing evidence-based strategies to accelerate sustainable transformation across the global travel and hospitality sectors.

Through this collaboration, WSTHA and Tourism Economics will combine their expertise to deliver in-depth research, economic impact assessments, and practical policy recommendations. The partnership seeks to provide destinations, businesses, and governments with actionable tools to align tourism growth with climate and sustainability goals.

Justin Cooke, Executive Vice President of the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards, said the partnership reinforces the Awards’ mission to recognise and support positive change across the industry. “Our vision is to celebrate and share the stories of those driving transformation in sustainable travel and tourism. This long-term partnership with Tourism Economics will help demonstrate the measurable economic return of that impact, strengthening the case for accelerating change,” he noted.

David Goodger, Managing Director for Europe & the Middle East at Tourism Economics, added: “At Tourism Economics, we are committed to providing the evidence base that enables the sector to plan for sustainable growth. Partnering with the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards allows us to apply our analytical expertise to help destinations and tourism businesses deliver long-term benefits for communities, economies, and the environment.”

The partnership will prioritise three key objectives: the creation of sustainability indices to benchmark global progress, the measurement of tourism’s economic and environmental impacts, and the development of data-driven tools that guide policy and investment decisions in line with global development frameworks.
