Wilderness Travel introduces new journeys across the Americas

Wilderness Travel has announced seven new itineraries across North and Latin America, expanding its portfolio with small-group journeys focused on nature, culture, and cuisine.

 

Wilderness Travel has announced the launch of seven new journeys across the Americas, adding destinations in Canada, the United States, Cuba, Costa Rica, Peru, Bolivia, and Patagonia to its global portfolio.

The new itineraries are designed for travellers seeking immersive experiences that combine adventure, culture, and local cuisine. According to the company, the journeys range from low-impact explorations to more active programmes, with a focus on small groups and expert local guidance.

“Travelers are looking for meaningful experiences that go beyond sightseeing,” said Scott Abbott, Managing Director of Wilderness Travel. “These new itineraries were created for people who want to experience landscapes, cultures, and wildlife up close – and do it with the care and insight that comes from working with the best Trip Leaders.”

In the United States, a new winter wildlife journey in Yellowstone focuses on snow-covered landscapes and guided observation of species such as bison, elk, pronghorn, and gray wolves. The itinerary includes snowshoe outings, travel by private snowcoach, and an overnight stay near Old Faithful during the winter season. Scheduled departures are set for January 25–31, 2026, and January 24–30, 2027.

  • In Canada, the new Hiking the Canadian Rockies itinerary is a seven-day journey through five national parks: Banff, Yoho, Glacier, Mount Revelstoke, and Kootenay. Operating in September 2026, the programme highlights alpine meadows, glacier-fed lakes, mountain lodges, and potential wildlife sightings, with departures scheduled for September 6–12 and September 13–19, 2026.
  • An Alaska Private Journey offers exploration aboard a small vessel designed for groups of eight or twelve guests. The itinerary includes glacial fjords, remote islands, wildlife observation, and activities such as hiking and kayaking. These journeys operate as private departures with flexible dates, with recommended travel between April and September.
  • In Latin America, the Hidden Flavors of Peru & Bolivia itinerary is a 13-day culinary-focused journey highlighting indigenous ingredients, wine regions, and historic cities. The route begins in Tarija in southern Bolivia and continues through Sucre, Potosi, and La Paz, before crossing into Peru with visits to Lima, Cusco, and the Sacred Valley. The departure is scheduled for October 9–21, 2026.
  • The Remote Parks of Patagonia’s Wild North journey is a 10-day guided itinerary through Chile’s Route of the Parks, covering national parks such as Pumalín, Patagonia, and Cerro Castillo. Activities include hiking, glacier viewing, wildlife observation, and kayaking. All 2026 departures are currently waitlisted, with availability remaining for March 6–15, 2027.
  • Cuba: A Cultural Odyssey is an eight-day itinerary focused on cultural engagement, including meetings with artists, musicians, historians, and local communities. The programme includes stays in Havana, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, and Santa Clara. Departures are scheduled for January 9–16, February 6–13, and December 22–29, 2026.
  • The Costa Rica Family Private Journey is a customisable, multi-generational itinerary offering activities such as rainforest hiking, ziplining, rafting, and kayaking, with guided wildlife observation. The route includes visits to Arenal Volcano National Park, Tortuguero National Park, and Manuel Antonio National Park. These private journeys operate year-round, with dates selected by each group.
