The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has unveiled its Thailand Pavilion at TRAVEX, a key segment of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2026 (ATF 2026), which is being held in Cebu, Philippines, from January 25 to 30, 2026. This participation marks a critical moment in Thailand’s ongoing strategy to bolster its position in high-value tourism, promote sustainability, and deepen regional cooperation across the ASEAN region. With a rich history of engagement at the ATF, Thailand’s role continues to be pivotal in shaping regional tourism policies and fostering meaningful collaborations within the industry.

ATF 2026, now in its 44th edition, carries the theme “Quality Tourism, Sustainability, Regional Integration and Innovation,” and is hosted by the Philippines this year. As the ASEAN region’s primary platform for tourism policy alignment and industry cooperation, the forum provides a unique opportunity for countries to come together to share best practices, discuss emerging trends, and drive collective growth in the tourism sector. Thailand, a long-standing participant, has hosted the event six times previously, underscoring its commitment to promoting sustainable tourism and supporting regional integration.

The participation of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand in the ASEAN Tourism Ministers’ Meeting further strengthens the country’s leadership role. At this meeting, Thailand contributes significantly to discussions on policy development, the establishment of sustainable tourism standards, and enhanced cooperation among ASEAN nations. This collaborative approach is vital as the region continues to navigate the evolving landscape of tourism and its impacts on local economies and communities.

At TRAVEX, the Thailand Pavilion serves as a dynamic platform for trade engagement, media interaction, and the building of partnerships with both regional and international counterparts. The pavilion is open from January 28 to 30 and is designed to facilitate high-quality business exchanges. The pavilion showcases Thailand’s diverse tourism offerings while aligning with the global trend of “Healing is the New Luxury,” a concept reflecting Thailand’s increasing emphasis on wellness and transformative travel experiences. The space includes a tourism information zone, which integrates digital and audiovisual content to highlight Thailand’s unique travel experiences, alongside dedicated areas for business-to-business (B2B) negotiations, media interviews, and strategic discussions.

A key feature of the pavilion is the participation of six Thai sellers, coordinated by TAT, who represent a wide array of the country’s tourism products. These sellers include Montien Hotel Surawong Bangkok, Lion Land Phuket, Panan Krabi Resort, Thai Airways International, Thailand Privilege Card, and Paradise Koh Yao Resort. Each seller offers a distinct facet of Thai tourism, ranging from luxury accommodations and island resorts to world-class airlines and exclusive membership programs. Their participation underscores Thailand’s broad tourism appeal and its diverse offerings catering to both high-end and mass-market travelers.

Thailand’s tourism growth in 2025 reflects the country’s continued strength as a tourism destination within the ASEAN region. A total of 9,466,401 visitors from ASEAN countries visited Thailand last year, with Malaysia leading the charge, contributing 4,520,856 arrivals. Other significant contributors included Singapore, with 967,341 visitors, followed by Indonesia (787,524) and the Philippines (704,575). The Philippines also experienced impressive year-on-year growth of 18.19%. This uptick highlights the success of Thailand’s targeted efforts to enhance regional connectivity and attract visitors from its neighboring countries.

The importance of air connectivity between Thailand and the Philippines is supported by a robust network of flights operated by four airlines: Philippine Airlines, Thai Airways International, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia. Together, they operate 86 weekly flights across routes linking key cities such as Manila, Cebu, Clark, Davao, and Iloilo to Bangkok, with a total seat capacity of 22,458. This extensive air network plays a crucial role in facilitating seamless travel between the two countries, ensuring easy access for tourists and business travelers alike.

Through its active participation in ATF 2026, Thailand reaffirms its commitment to promoting high-quality, sustainable tourism while advancing regional cooperation. By showcasing its diverse tourism offerings, strengthening key partnerships, and supporting policy alignment, Thailand continues to lead the way in shaping the future of tourism in ASEAN. The success of its pavilion at TRAVEX not only highlights the country’s tourism potential but also reinforces its reputation as a global leader in the tourism industry. With the continued growth in visitor arrivals and the country’s emphasis on sustainable tourism practices, Thailand remains a top choice for travelers from all corners of the world, solidifying its position as a must-visit destination in the heart of Southeast Asia.
