Telangana Tourism has relaunched its seasonal cruise connecting Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam, offering travelers a serene six-hour journey that blends natural beauty, cultural insights, and eco-conscious practices. This year, the service started in the last week of November, slightly later than usual, due to prolonged opening of dam gates at Nagarjunasagar following heavy rains across the region.

The cruise departs each Saturday at 9 a.m. from the designated boating area near Vijay Vihar restaurant at Nagarjunasagar. Passengers embark on a scenic journey across the expansive reservoir and river stretches, arriving at Eegalapenta around 4 p.m. Eegalapenta serves as the transfer point for those continuing to Srisailam. Return trips depart on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m., reaching Nagarjunasagar by late afternoon, providing a complete weekend itinerary for visitors.

Ticket prices are designed to accommodate both adults and children. A one-way trip is available at ₹2,000 for adults and ₹1,600 for children aged five to ten, while a round trip costs ₹3,250 for adults and ₹2,600 for children. The fare includes morning refreshments, tea served twice during the journey, and a full vegetarian lunch. Throughout the cruise, passengers are engaged with interactive activities and games, while expert commentary highlights the historical, cultural, and ecological significance of landmarks along the route.

For those intending to visit Srisailam, Telangana Tourism collaborates with private operators to provide onward transport and temple darshan from Eegalapenta at an additional cost. This optional service allows travelers to seamlessly continue their journey while ensuring convenience and a well-organized travel experience.

The cruise vessel is a twin-deck catamaran with seating available on both the covered lower deck and the canopy-protected upper deck. While the vessel has a maximum capacity of 120 passengers, bookings are limited to 110 to ensure sufficient space for crew members, including drivers, lifeguards, expert swimmers, and trained safety personnel. The vessel is maintained to high hygiene standards, and strict waste management practices are enforced to protect the environment and ensure passenger comfort.

Sustainability is a defining feature of this year’s cruise. The vessel features décor made from natural materials such as banana leaves, coconut branches, and jute, reflecting an eco-friendly approach to tourism. Waste disposal measures are strengthened, and the vessel is regularly cleaned, reinforcing Telangana Tourism’s commitment to environmentally responsible travel.

The relaunch emphasizes Telangana Tourism’s focus on providing unique, immersive experiences that combine leisure with learning. Passengers can enjoy the calm waters of the reservoir, take in panoramic views, and explore scenic spots while gaining insights into the region’s history and ecological significance. The service caters to families, groups, and solo travelers seeking a relaxing yet enriching getaway.

This seasonal cruise offers a seamless blend of natural beauty, cultural education, and eco-conscious travel. By integrating comfort, entertainment, and sustainable practices, the Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam cruise has emerged as a signature experience for weekend travelers. With careful attention to safety, hygiene, and guided engagement, it provides visitors a chance to connect deeply with the environment while enjoying a tranquil and well-organized journey.

The revived service is expected to attract a wide range of travelers, both domestic and international, who are looking for a memorable, scenic, and responsible travel experience. Through this initiative, Telangana Tourism continues to strengthen its portfolio of immersive and sustainable travel offerings, encouraging visitors to explore the state’s rich natural and cultural heritage in a comfortable and eco-friendly setting.
