SMX Convention Center Hosts Record Number of Events, Visitors in 2025

The SMX Convention Center, the premier meetings and exhibitions venue operated by SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime), experienced an exceptional year in 2025, hosting a record-breaking number of events and attracting a significant influx of visitors. This achievement further solidified its reputation as the leading and most sought-after destination in the country for large-scale conferences, trade shows, and exhibitions, positioning it at the forefront of the event industry.

SMX hosted 1,632 events across its eight properties, representing a 10% increase from 1,480 events in 2024. The events were split nearly evenly between Metro Manila and regional venues, highlighting the growing popularity of provincial destinations like Clark, Bacolod, Davao, and Olongapo.

Visitor traffic increased by 34%, rising from 6.37 million to 8.54 million, as the expanded schedule of booked events and their strong appeal drew more visitors.

“Since the pandemic reopening, we have seen sustained demand not only in Metro Manila but also in key regional destinations.” said Peggy Angeles, Executive Vice President of SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation (SMHCC). “The accessible locations of our venues also encouraged walk-in visitors, particularly for exhibitions and consumer shows open to the public.”

In 2025, key events held at SMX venues included flagship trade exhibitions and consumer shows such as PhilConstruct, WOFEX, SIGMA, the Manila International Auto Show, and the Travel Tour Expo. The schedule also featured bridal fairs and major cosplay conventions.

“We are scaling capacity in step with demand, while focusing on developments that complement our current portfolio. This allows us to extend growth beyond the capital and strengthen our presence in key provincial markets,” said Angeles.

In Cebu, the SMX Convention Center Seaside Cebu is set to be constructed shortly. It is expected to become the biggest convention center in the Philippines, with an opening planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.

In Pasay City, the SMXCITE, also known as the SMX Center for International Trade and Exhibitions, is currently under construction within the SM Mall of Asia Complex. Covering 18,000 square meters, this venue is scheduled to open in early 2027 and will be the largest international exhibition space in the Philippines.
