Singita to open new purpose-driven Elela camp in Botswana’s Okavango Delta in December 2026
Singita will open Singita Elela in Botswana’s Okavango Delta in December 2026, introducing a purpose-driven, nature-led camp model focused on conservation, community collaboration and low-impact design.
Singita has announced plans to open Singita Elela in Botswana’s Okavango Delta on 11 December 2026, marking a new chapter in the company’s conservation-driven approach to hospitality. Rather than a traditional expansion, Singita describes Elela as an evolution of its long-term commitment to protecting African wilderness and strengthening community partnerships.
Located within the 400,000-acre NG26 concession, Elela will provide private access to one of the most biodiverse areas of the Okavango Delta. The region’s floodplains, islands and waterways support more than 400 bird species and a wide range of wildlife, offering what the company positions as a remote and nature-immersive setting for travellers.
Design aligned with the Delta’s natural rhythms
The name “Elela,” meaning “to flow” in Setswana, reflects the camp’s integration with its surroundings. The eight circular camps, ranging from one to four bedrooms, will be elevated on stilts to follow the seasonal movement of water and minimise environmental impact. The structures are designed to open in multiple directions, with no defined front or back, creating a seamless connection with the landscape.

Interiors will incorporate natural materials and craftsmanship rooted in Botswana’s cultural context, with a focus on simplicity and a sense of calm.
Model centred on care, guidance and local partnership
Each camp will be hosted by a small dedicated team, including a guide, tracker and host, supporting personalised stays and flexible exploration. Activities are expected to emphasise nature-based experiences, including water-based excursions and slow-paced discovery of the Delta environment.
“As a brand built on a shared love and reverence for nature and Africa – passed down through generations – Singita has longed to create something meaningful here, with the people of Botswana,” said Jo Bailes, CEO of Singita. He highlighted the goal of developing long-term value for local communities and conservation initiatives through collaboration.
Singita Elela is scheduled to welcome guests from December 2026, offering travel trade and conservation-focused partners a new model centred on purpose-driven hospitality, low-impact design and community alignment in one of Africa’s most sensitive ecosystems.
