He adds that this expanded First Night event will not only celebrate the county’s history but also begin the long-awaited Semiquincentennial celebrations—marking 250 years of Morris County’s historical significance.

Pathways of History: A Community Showcase of Local Heritage

At Morristown High School, one of the main attractions will be the “Pathways of History Community Showcase.” This engaging exhibit, presented by the Morris County Historical Society and Morris County Heritage Commission, will feature more than 30 volunteer-run historical organizations from across the county. Visitors will be treated to an interactive experience where they can explore local heritage through fascinating displays that showcase the 17th annual “Pathways of History tours.” These tours, which take place in the spring and fall, offer a rare chance to step inside dozens of historic sites, many of which are otherwise closed to the public.

In addition to these seasonal offerings, Macculloch Hall will present a special exhibit called “Eyewitness to History: The Marquis de Lafayette Visits Morristown.” This exhibit commemorates the 200th anniversary of Lafayette’s return to Morristown in 1825.
