Currently, Qatar is renowned for its state-of-the-art metro system in Doha. Oman and the UAE are also making progress on the 303-kilometre Hafeet Rail project, which links the Omani city of Sohar with Abu Dhabi. This project marks the first international rail segment of the Gulf Railway network to break ground. Kuwait is also playing a role in the regional initiative, having signed a design contract for its own rail segment, which will connect to Saudi Arabia’s network.

In Saudi Arabia, the largest section of the Gulf Railway network will form a vital backbone that links existing domestic lines, from Dammam to Riyadh, extending all the way to the Red Sea coast. This will not only boost the efficiency of passenger travel but also enhance the region’s freight capacity, benefiting industries and businesses across the region. Once the full Gulf Railway network is operational, travelers will be able to seamlessly travel by rail from Kuwait City to Doha, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, and beyond.
