Oman launches a revolutionary digital booking platform, offering over 200 service providers, 350 curated experiences, and 140+ hotels, transforming travel planning.

Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has introduced the Experience Oman digital platform, marking a significant leap in the country’s tourism sector. Designed to streamline travel planning, the platform offers over 200 service providers, 350 curated experiences, and 140+ hotels, all available for seamless booking. By connecting local operators, including small and medium-sized businesses, with international markets, the platform enhances Oman’s visibility on a global scale. This initiative reflects Oman’s commitment to digital innovation and its ongoing efforts to attract more international travelers, providing them with easy access to a diverse range of experiences while boosting the country’s tourism industry.

Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has launched a cutting-edge digital platform, marking a major leap forward in the nation’s digital transformation within the travel sector. This new tool, accessible through the official tourism website Experience Oman, serves as a centralized hub for booking a wide variety of tourism packages, streamlining the trip planning process for both travelers and travel agents.

This innovative platform offers an impressive selection of Omani tourism products and services. Presently, it features over 200 tourism service providers, providing more than 350 curated experiences, 56 exclusive holiday packages, and over 140 hotels and resorts. The platform is designed to cater to the diverse needs of international travelers, offering everything from scenic tours and adventure activities to luxury hotel stays and cultural experiences.

One of the key advantages of the platform is its ability to bring together offerings from local operators, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), effectively linking them to global markets. Travel agents now have the convenience of booking entire travel itineraries through the platform, from flights and accommodation to transportation, guided tours, and immersive adventure experiences. This all-in-one system aims to simplify the planning and booking process for agents, providing a seamless experience that can be customized according to the specific needs and preferences of clients.

In alignment with Oman’s broader tourism strategy, which aims to diversify its tourism offerings, the platform also integrates packages built around high-profile events. Notably, the platform is linked to the Ironman championship, which takes place every November in Muscat until 2031. This event is a key component of Oman’s strategy to position itself as a premier destination for sports and event tourism. By emphasizing endurance events and active holidays, the country hopes to not only attract visitors during these high-profile occasions but also encourage repeat visits and extend tourists’ stays.

To further support the trade, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has launched an online training course for travel agents, hosted on Online Travel Training (OTT). Available in multiple languages, this course is designed to enhance agents’ understanding of Oman’s tourism products, providing them with valuable tools to create bespoke itineraries for clients. The course aims to ensure that agents are well-equipped to navigate the expanded range of experiences and services offered on the Experience Oman platform.

Oman Tourism is making significant investments in the country’s travel technology infrastructure. The Omran Development Company, the government’s development arm, has committed $7 million to invest in UnderTheDoormat Group, a platform aimed at connecting local property owners to international booking sites. This investment is expected to further enhance the visibility of Oman’s hospitality sector on global platforms, making it easier for travelers to book authentic, local experiences.

Additionally, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has plans to launch a new digital platform to connect licensed Omani tourist guides with international travelers. Expected to roll out in phases starting in early 2026, this platform will enable guides to create content, accept reservations, and process payments. By plugging local guides into global distribution networks, Oman will be able to expand its tourism offerings and give travelers a deeper, more authentic insight into the country’s culture and heritage.

Looking ahead, tourism is expected to play an increasingly important role in Oman’s economy. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism forecasts that tourism will contribute 5% to Oman’s GDP by 2030 and 10% by 2040. This growth is driven by ongoing investments in infrastructure, technology, and marketing efforts aimed at enhancing the country’s appeal as a global tourism destination. Oman has also set ambitious goals for international visitation, projecting 3.9 million international tourists by 2025, a 3% increase from the previous year.

The launch of the Experience Oman platform is part of the sultanate’s broader push to modernize its tourism sector and tap into new, global markets. With its comprehensive offerings, user-friendly interface, and a wealth of curated experiences, the platform provides an accessible and efficient way for agents and travelers to explore the best of what Oman has to offer. This digital innovation reflects the country’s growing commitment to enhancing its tourism infrastructure, improving the visitor experience, and ultimately helping Oman reach its ambitious tourism targets in the coming decades.
