“A Night In Old San Antonio” (NIOSA) is set to return in 2026 with exciting plans to offer an unforgettable experience. Scheduled from April 21-24, 2026, the beloved four-night festival will once again take place in the historic La Villita Arts Village in the heart of downtown San Antonio. NIOSA celebrates the city’s diverse cultural heritage with a rich blend of food, entertainment, and immersive displays. This year marks its 78th edition, continuing its longstanding tradition of fundraising for historic preservation in the United States. The event will take place nightly from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. during the Fiesta San Antonio.

NIOSA has earned its reputation as a top fundraiser for historic preservation, contributing over USD 1 million annually to support The Conservation Society of San Antonio. The festival will continue its mission to preserve historic buildings, support local culture, and educate the public on the importance of preserving San Antonio’s treasures. As the #1 Fiesta event according to San Antonio Current, NIOSA remains a must-see cultural celebration.

Enhancements and New Features in NIOSA 2026

For 2026, NIOSA will maintain the same core spirit that has made it so beloved. Visitors will still be able to explore the 14 cultural areas that represent the diverse ethnic and cultural influences that have shaped the city. These areas include the Mission Trail, Frontier Town, French Quarter, China Town, and the Mexican Market, among others. However, some areas will be moved within the La Villita Historic Arts Village, making for an even more accessible and enjoyable experience.

NIOSA’s food and entertainment booths, including the famous Mr. Chicken, Maria’s Tortillas, and Anticuchos, will return. Attendees can enjoy beignets, fried mushrooms, Tejano music, and fajitas de pollo as they take in the vibrant performances and cultural displays. This year, the event will feature live music from various genres, reflecting San Antonio’s eclectic cultural landscape. The sights and sounds of NIOSA will once again bring San Antonio’s history alive, attracting both locals and tourists alike.

Community and Volunteer Support

NIOSA is powered by the dedication of over 10,000 volunteers, many of whom have worked at the festival for multiple generations. The event’s volunteers handle everything from food preparation to managing the various booths. Their commitment helps keep the festival running smoothly, and their support allows NIOSA to continue raising funds for historic preservation. NIOSA’s volunteer-driven model is a key part of the event’s charm and community spirit. The event’s Chairperson, Julie Terrill, along with a dedicated team of Vice Chairs and Treasurers, will once again lead the way to ensure NIOSA’s success.

A Tradition of Giving Back to the Community

Beyond the celebration itself, NIOSA plays a significant role in funding important preservation projects. The Conservation Society of San Antonio has used proceeds from NIOSA to fund over USD 12 million in preservation projects and initiatives since 2010. Notable contributions include the La Villita restorations, scholarships, grants for historical preservation, and educational outreach programs, such as the Heritage Education Tours for local schoolchildren.

By hosting such events, the society continues to educate future generations on the importance of historic preservation and the cultural significance of the city’s landmarks. The 2026 NIOSA will also contribute to ongoing projects, helping preserve the La Villita Historic Arts Village and other key sites in the city.
