Montage Big Sky appoints Christian Maeder as General Manager

Montage Big Sky has appointed Christian Maeder as General Manager, recognizing his leadership, global experience and strong tenure within Montage after serving as hotel manager since 2023.

 

BIG SKY, MONT. – Montage Big Sky has announced the appointment of Christian Maeder as General Manager, assuming responsibility for all aspects of resort operations. With more than 25 years of experience in global luxury hospitality, Maeder steps into the role after serving as the resort’s hotel manager since 2023, continuing a longstanding and distinguished career within the Montage brand.

Jason Herthel, president and chief operating officer of Montage International, praised the appointment, stating: “Christian’s proven leadership at Montage Big Sky and across the Montage portfolio make him exceptionally well-suited to step into the role of general manager. During his tenure as hotel manager at Montage Big Sky, Maeder significantly advanced the resort’s service culture and operational philosophy. He introduced new food and beverage initiatives, strengthened management practices, and elevated the overall guest experience, reinforcing the property’s commitment to excellence.

Prior to joining Montage Big Sky, Maeder served as hotel manager at Montage Laguna Beach and held senior leadership roles at prestigious properties including The Maybourne Beverly Hills, Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara, The Setai Miami Beach, and Four Seasons Hotel New York. His extensive experience also includes positions with Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas, Claridge’s in London, and The Peninsula New York, contributing to a global perspective and refined operational expertise.

Born in Switzerland, Maeder holds a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from the Swiss Hotel Management School Lucerne and has completed further studies in financial management at Cornell University. His combination of international experience, service excellence and strategic leadership positions him strongly to guide Montage Big Sky into its next chapter.
