MITM Europe Starting From January 18 at Rafaelhoteles Atocha in Madrid
MITM Europe returns to Madrid in January 2026 with structured appointments and hospitality-led networking.
One of Europe’s longest-established international B2B tradeshows dedicated to the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions sector is set to take place in Madrid from January 18 to January 20, 2026. The event will be hosted at Rafaelhoteles Atocha, which will serve as both the official venue and sponsor. Positioned ahead of the annual Fitur tourism trade gathering, the January event is scheduled to bring together travel-focused decision-makers from multiple international markets within a structured, appointment-driven format.
The tradeshow is organized by MITM Events, a company active in the organization of cultural and MICE-focused B2B events since 1997. The Madrid edition follows a format that has been implemented across several previous host cities, maintaining a controlled scale and a focus on prearranged professional meetings within a hospitality-based setting.
Three-Day Program Built Around Appointments and Hospitality
The official program for the January 2026 edition has been structured across three days, combining scheduled business appointments with hospitality-led networking elements. Activities will begin on January 18 with a welcome cocktail, marking the opening of the event and providing an initial opportunity for participants to engage in an informal setting.
January 19 will represent the core business day of the program. A full schedule of pre-established appointments has been planned, supported by designated coffee breaks and a work luncheon. The day will conclude with a closing dinner, allowing continued interaction among attending companies within the same venue environment.
The final day, January 20, will feature a half-day of appointments, followed by additional coffee breaks and a hospitality-focused session centered on Spanish wine and tapas. Post-event tours have also been included as part of the concluding program elements. All activities are designed to take place within the framework outlined by the organizers, without deviation into external programming.
Travel-Oriented Professional Interaction in a Centralized Setting
From a travel industry perspective, the event format reflects an approach commonly used within international MICE gatherings, where accommodation, meeting space, and networking environments are consolidated into a single location. The use of a host hotel as the primary venue allows participants to remain on site throughout the program, minimizing transit requirements and maintaining continuity across scheduled activities.
For professionals operating within business travel, incentive planning, and event organization, such centralized formats are often associated with efficient time management. The structured sequence of meetings and breaks ensures that business discussions can be conducted within a predictable schedule while still allowing for informal interaction tied to hospitality services.
The inclusion of social elements alongside formal appointments aligns with established practices in travel-focused B2B events, where relationship-building is supported through shared meals and informal gatherings rather than external excursions.
Tourism-Focused Exchange Without Program Expansion
While the event takes place in Madrid, the program itself remains confined to the activities detailed by the organizers. The emphasis is placed on interaction rather than destination discovery, with hospitality elements integrated into the meeting schedule rather than positioned as separate experiences.
This approach maintains consistency with the event’s broader model, where tourism and travel are reflected through the professional profiles of attendees rather than through destination-led programming. The agenda remains focused on facilitating contact between participating companies, supported by food, beverage, and networking sessions that follow established MICE event norms.
By keeping all activities within the planned framework, the event preserves a standardized experience that mirrors previous editions hosted in other cities.
Participation Levels and International Buyer Selection
The most recent edition of the tradeshow concluded with participation from more than 120 companies representing 27 countries. Buyer registrations exceeded 500, originating from 60 countries, while exhibitor capacity reached full occupancy, with all available spaces booked.
For the January 2026 edition, total registrations are expected to range between 500 and 800. From this pool, 60 companies are to be selected based on purchasing capacity. Participation is limited to directors and executives representing corporate companies, incentive agencies, international associations, event planners, congress organizers, luxury-focused agencies, and tour operators with a specialization in MICE-related travel.
This selective structure reflects the event’s ongoing emphasis on maintaining a buyer-focused environment supported by a controlled number of participants.
Continuity Across Multiple International Editions
MITM Europe – MICE & Business has previously taken place in 21 cities across eight countries. Each edition has followed a similar structure, typically gathering around 120 participants from approximately 25 countries. The Madrid edition continues this established pattern, retaining the same appointment-based format and participant profile.
By adhering to a consistent framework across locations, the event has maintained continuity while adapting to different host venues. The January 2026 program reflects this approach, combining structured meetings with hospitality-driven networking in a travel-centric setting.
Structured Format Aimed at Measurable Engagement
The agenda for the Madrid edition includes up to 30 pre-established appointments per participant, supported by scheduled breaks and shared meals. This format is intended to facilitate contact among all attending companies while promoting professional links within a defined timeframe.
By limiting attendance and emphasizing scheduled interaction, the event model prioritizes efficiency and engagement over open-access participation. This structure aligns with common practices within international MICE and business travel events, where return on investment is closely linked to appointment density and participant relevance.
