Kaelo Destinations launches new global conservation-led travel collection

Kaelo Destinations has launched a new global travel collection, uniting conservation-led properties under one vision, beginning with Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana and Pambele Beach House in Mozambique.

Kaelo Destinations has been introduced as a new global travel collection created to unite exceptional, conservation-led destinations under a shared vision. The collection launches with two properties: Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana and Pambele Beach House in Mozambique.

The name Kaelo means “to guide, guard and nurture” in Setswana, reflecting the collection’s commitment to stewarding destinations with care, ensuring places are preserved, respected, and shared with intention while guiding travellers on personal and transformative journeys.

Kaelo Destinations positions itself as more than a portfolio of properties, describing a philosophy of travel focused on high-value, low-impact stays. The approach emphasises immersive and intimate experiences that are respectful of place, nature, culture, and human connection, with a long-term vision to expand globally.

Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana and Pambele Beach House in Mozambique form the first entries in Kaelo Destinations’ portfolio, offering a combined safari-and-beach experience. The pairing illustrates how distinct landscapes can be brought together under one umbrella brand to deliver integrated travel experiences.

Mashatu Game Reserve is presented as an award-winning safari destination offering wilderness experiences, predator sightings, cultural heritage, and a range of safari activities including cycling and walking safaris, as well as photographic hides. Mashatu was recently awarded Best Game Reserve in Southern Africa by the World Luxury Travel Awards 2025.

Pambele Beach House is located within Mozambique’s Vilanculos Coastal Wildlife Sanctuary, overlooking the Bazaruto Archipelago. The property offers a private coastal setting with access to marine and land-based experiences and has been recognised in Condé Nast Traveller’s “Best Places to Go 2026”.

“Kaelo Destinations is the weaving of remarkable places into a global vision. One that protects landscapes, uplifts communities, and creates journeys that awaken the senses of travellers. Mashatu and Pambele have long been our passion. Places where wilderness and discovery coexist, and where guests leave feeling changed. Our high-value, low-volume model, offers low-impact experiences from walking and cycling safaris across 42,000 hectares of conserved land – to snorkelling, kayaking and diving in marine protected waters. Our unique experiences are designed in harmony with the natural environment.” said Steve Lansdown and Maggie Lansdown, owners of Kaelo Destinations.

The launch of Kaelo Destinations marks the beginning of a planned expansion of the collection, with future destinations guided by principles of stewardship, authenticity, and conservation-led travel.
