Next year, the captivating island province of Camiguin will become a must-visit destination with the launch of Isle Visit Camiguin 2026. This yearlong campaign invites travelers and explorers to discover Camiguin’s stunning natural beauty —from its lush mountains and waterfalls to its white-sand beaches and vibrant local culture —establishing it as the jewel of northern Mindanao.

Ironman 5150 Camiguin launch
Topping the fun-filled year is Ironman 5150 set on May 3, which will bring hundreds of triathletes, event officials, and sports enthusiasts swimming around the iconic Sunken Cemetery, and biking and running around the province’s scenic roads.

The bike leg takes participants on two loops along the picturesque Circumferential Road. The journey starts at the iconic ruins of the Spanish-era Bonbon Church, providing a glimpse into the island’s history. Cyclists then wind their way around Camiguin, passing serene coastal stretches, lush villages, and local landmarks before concluding the race at the Camiguin Sports Complex, centrally situated in the capital town of Mambajao.

“Camiguin is one of the country’s most beautiful and storied islands, and bringing an Ironman 5150 race here allows us to combine both adventure and cultural discovery,” says Princess Galura, president and general manager of Sunrise Events Inc., exclusive Philippine Ironman licensee.
She explained that Ironman 5150 is not just a race but an invitation to fully experience the wonders of Camiguin. Guests can relax in the soothing Ardent Hot Springs, take a dip in the cool, pristine waters of Sto. Niño Cold Springs, and enjoy the rare treat of drinking and swimming in the mineral-rich Bura Soda Pool. Adventurous spirits can trek the Walkway to the Old Volcano, offering historical and scenic views, while nature lovers can witness the splendor of Katibawasan and Tuasan waterfalls. Finally, participants can bask in the beauty of the White Island Sandbar, all set against the dramatic backdrop of Mt. Hibok-Hibok, a renowned active volcano.

In addition to other attractions, guests can immerse themselves in Mantigue Island Nature Park, a celebrated eco-destination just off Camiguin’s shoreline. This pristine island won the Best Eco-Tourism Destination award at the first Philippine Tourism Awards, an event organized by the Department of Tourism to honor excellence in sustainable initiatives. Mantigue Island captivates visitors with its powdery beaches, thriving coral reefs, and rich mangrove ecosystem—an achievement that showcases Camiguin’s commitment to ecological preservation and sustainable tourism development.
Governor Xavier Jesus “XJ” D. Romualdo welcomed the event as a milestone for the province’s growing tourism and sports initiatives. “We are proud to welcome triathletes from across the Philippines and around the world to experience Camiguin, not just as a destination, but as a community that celebrates nature, culture, and active living.”

Lanzones Fest grand opening
He said the new campaign marks another bold step forward for the province, which has shown consistent economic and tourism growth in recent years after the COVID-19 pandemic.
He added that the province posted an 8.6% growth rate in 2024, the highest in Region 10 and among the top 10 nationwide. Tourist arrivals also increased by 38%, reaching 288,558 local and foreign visitors.

“Isle Visit Camiguin campaign isn’t just about attracting tourists, but also about sustaining our economic momentum, creating more livelihood opportunities for people, and ensuring that tourism continues to be a strong driver of inclusive growth for our province in the years to come,” Romualdo pointed out.
On top of the Ironman, Camiguin will host a variety of events next year under the main four themes—Isle Trek, Isle Win, Isle Dive, and Isle Enjoy, which are all based on the “Camiguin, Isle Be There” branding it launched in 2023.

Other significant events are Climb Camiguin in March, where mountaineers will scale the challenging mountains. Timpoong-Hibok-Hibok Natural Monument is an ASEAN Heritage Park, and the Camiguin Dive Festival is held in August.

The yearlong promotion features the traditional Panaad, a 64-kilometer Holy Week penitential walk through Camiguin’s picturesque towns and rural landscapes, reflecting spiritual devotion and local heritage. In October, the island comes alive during the Lanzones Festival—one of the Philippines’ longest-running celebrations—showcasing street dancing, parades, cultural shows, and bountiful communal feasts in honor of the sweet lanzones fruit.
Visitors to Camiguin can also relax in a range of boutique accommodations, from quaint inns to luxurious resorts. The island’s dining scene includes restaurants with local and international fare, friendly bars, and quaint coffee shops, offering comfortable spots to rest and mingle after exploring Camiguin’s many attractions.
