Bhubaneswar, Oct 24: As the festive season intensifies travel demand, East Coast Railway (ECoR) has called upon all passengers to adhere strictly to the crowd management and safety protocols in place at major stations across its network, including Bhubaneswar, Puri, Brahmapur, Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, and Sambalpur. The appeal aims to ensure a smooth and secure travel experience during this busy period.

With the surge in passenger numbers, ECoR has implemented several measures to enhance safety and facilitate smoother movement through stations. These measures include the operation of 367 special trains, bolstered security with additional Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel, and the establishment of 24/7 control rooms to monitor real-time passenger traffic. However, the success of these efforts hinges largely on the cooperation of travelers.

ECoR has specifically requested that passengers form orderly queues when entering or leaving the stations, purchasing tickets, and boarding trains. Passengers are urged to refrain from pushing, shoving, or causing any disruption, especially on foot over bridges (FOBs), escalators, or near platform edges. The smooth and orderly movement of travelers is essential for the safety of everyone in the station.

In addition to maintaining order at the stations, travelers are encouraged to make use of designated waiting areas to prevent overcrowding and to wait in safe, controlled environments until their trains are ready for departure. This practice is particularly vital during peak travel hours, when station congestion can easily become a concern.

The Railway has also emphasized the need for passengers to closely follow the instructions of the RPF, GRP, and other railway personnel, who are present to manage crowd flow and ensure security. Travelers are advised to arrive well in advance of their train’s departure time, pay close attention to station announcements, verify platform numbers, and board trains in an organized manner.

Traveling on train footboards, buffers, or rooftops is not only hazardous but also illegal, with severe legal penalties for offenders. Passengers are reminded to use the Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) to move between platforms and avoid crossing tracks at any time.

Similarly, carrying flammable materials, firecrackers, or any other prohibited items is strictly prohibited, and violators will face stiff penalties.
