Get a Free Trip to Torres del Paine by Volunteering in Trail Regeneration Efforts
Participate in the "10 Volunteers for 10 Days" contest by Las Torres Patagonia and get a chance to rebuild the Base Torres trail in Torres del Paine, Chile
Las Torres Patagonia and SKY Airline have launched the third edition of the “10 Volunteers for 10 Days” campaign. The initiative for this year invites international volunteers to help regenerate the Base Torres Viewpoint trail in Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. Volunteers will get the chance to work in conservation while enjoying the mesmerizing landscapes of Chilean Patagonia. And the best part? All expenses will be covered.
What’s New in the 2026 Edition?
The 2026 edition of the campaign marks a significant milestone in the regeneration project. The first phase of this project is the completion of 3.3 kilometers of trail infrastructure, including pedestrian and logistical paths. This initiative separates the flow of pedestrian visitors from horseback traffic, improving safety, enhancing the hiking experience, and protecting the park’s natural environment. The Base Torres trail is one of the most popular yet fragile hiking routes in the park. Its restoration will help safeguard the area for future visitors while promoting sustainable tourism.
How to Participate
To participate, applicants must be residents of Chile, Brazil, the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom, and be at least 21 years old. Interested candidates can apply through Instagram Stories by submitting a 45-second video. The video should showcase their passion for sustainability and why they want to join the conservation efforts in Torres del Paine. Participants must tag both Las Torres Patagonia and SKY Airline in the story and post it from a public account. The application deadline is February 20, 2026, after which a team from Las Torres Patagonia will select the winners.
Winners will receive round-trip airfare from their home country to Puerto Natales and will be transferred to Hotel Las Torres, located within the national park. During their stay, volunteers will assist with the trail reconstruction and participate in excursions around the region, allowing them to fully experience Patagonia’s wilderness. The volunteer period spans five nights, with two available dates: March 22–26 and March 28–April 1.
The Impact of the Project
This volunteer initiative serves as part of a broader effort to enhance visitor management and long-term conservation in Torres del Paine National Park. The first phase of the regeneration project not only separates visitor and operational traffic, reducing environmental impact but also introduces improved trail features designed to handle the heavy footfall that the area experiences annually.
The Base Torres Viewpoint, known for its dramatic granite peaks and stunning landscapes, attracts thousands of hikers every year. However, its popularity has put pressure on the trail, making restoration efforts crucial for maintaining the park’s ecological integrity. The regeneration work aims to protect the park’s native flora and fauna, ensuring that the park remains a pristine environment for future generations.
Why Participate?
This volunteer program is more than just a chance to visit one of the world’s most iconic natural landscapes; it’s an opportunity to give back to the environment. By working alongside experts, volunteers will gain hands-on experience in sustainable trail building, which is crucial for preserving the park’s beauty and biodiversity. The collaboration between Las Torres Patagonia and SKY Airline is a perfect example of how tourism, conservation, and sustainability can work together for a greater cause.
Volunteers will not only contribute to the regeneration of the Base Torres trail but also enjoy the beauty of Patagonia’s glaciers, lakes, and valleys during their free time. Participating in this initiative is an opportunity to connect with nature in a profound way while contributing to its long-term preservation.
What’s Included?
Selected volunteers will enjoy the following benefits:
- Round-trip airfare from their home country to Puerto Natales, Chile.
- Transportation to Hotel Las Torres, located within Torres del Paine National Park.
- Five nights’ accommodation in the park’s hotel, with all meals provided.
