South Palms Resort & Spa Panglao – MGallery Collection has introduced Lola’s Sanctuary, marking Bohol’s first international luxury resort spa. Nestled within the island’s premier luxury resort, the sanctuary draws on the region’s deep-rooted healing traditions to offer an experience that is both restorative and deeply connected to local culture.

At Lola’s Sanctuary, wellness is defined by a deep, sensory connection to place, people, and the gentle rhythms of nature. Every rustle of leaves, shift of light, and ocean breeze becomes part of a healing environment that invites guests to slow down and truly arrive in the moment.

Every treatment reflects the wisdom passed through generations of Filipino healers, honoring rituals rooted in hilot traditions and indigenous plant medicine. Carefully chosen botanicals, many grown just steps away at South Farm, are combined with time-honored techniques that soothe the body, calm the mind, and restore energetic balance—creating an experience that feels both profoundly authentic and gracefully refined.

This opening marks the culmination of the property’s debut as Panglao’s first international resort—launched in August 2025—and fulfills its vision of a destination where design, culture, and well-being are intrinsically connected.

A return to ancestral healing

At the heart of the sanctuary lies Hilod Dalisay, an ancestral body-purifying ritual deeply rooted in ancient Filipino cleansing practices. This 90-minute treatment centers on Asin Tibuok, one of the world’s rarest artisanal salts, meticulously handcrafted in Bohol through a 400-year-old tradition.

Shaped like a clay pot and infused with the essence of the sea, Asin Tibuok is finely ground and blended with fragrant lemongrass and silky virgin coconut oil. As it is gently smoothed over the body in slow, deliberate strokes, the ritual draws out impurities, awakens the senses, and leaves a renewed feeling of clarity and calm—embodying the quiet discipline, grace, and reverence for nature found in traditional Filipino wellness.

Guests are also invited to delve deeper into the story of Asin Tibuok through the resort’s MGallery “M Moment,” a curated cultural immersion that offers a rare glimpse into the salt’s time-honored creation. In the company of skilled Boholano artisans, visitors can observe each painstaking step—from collecting seawater to shaping and firing the salt in earthenware molds.

This intimate encounter not only preserves a vanishing craft but also reflects MGallery’s philosophy of curating Memorable Moments that celebrate each destination’s unique identity, heritage, and soul.

A sanctuary shaped by nature

Guests arrive through Lola’s Kitchen, an airy, open-plan reception framed by swaying pandan leaves, fragrant lemongrass, and fruit-laden trees. Here, detox juices and soothing herbal teas are pressed, steeped, and blended fresh each day, their aromas drifting through the space and setting a gentle, restorative tone on arrival.

Beyond this welcome area, tranquil treatment rooms and breezy open cabanas are thoughtfully designed for quiet retreat, with soft lighting, billowing curtains, and views of the surrounding greenery.

Every oil, scrub, and compress is crafted by hand from ingredients cultivated at South Farm, just one kilometre away, ensuring each treatment is as fresh, natural, and sustainably sourced as the landscape itself.

The spa experience extends far beyond the treatment table, flowing into daily life at the resort. Mornings might begin with energising beach yoga sessions along the shoreline, where the sound of the waves guides each breath.

Later, guests can join mindfulness walks that meander along coastal paths and through gardens, or participate in personalised fitness activities at the resort’s Fit Studio, tailored to individual needs and goals.
