Antipolo Cathedral History
The original church was built in 1632 to house the image of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, brought from Mexico by Governor-General Juan Niño de Tabora. Over the centuries, the structure sustained damage from rebellions, earthquakes, and World War II. It was rebuilt and completed in 1954.
In 1954, the church was declared the National Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, making it the first national shrine in the Philippines. In 2023, it was elevated to the status of an International Marian Shrine, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
