Anantara to open first safari tented camp in Zambia in April 2026

Anantara has announced the opening of its first safari tented camp, Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp, scheduled for April 2026 in Zambia’s Kafue National Park. The development brings the brand into a new segment of nature-based accommodation and will operate in one of Africa’s oldest and largest protected reserves.

Set above the Kafue River, the camp is being designed with a low-impact approach. Elevated structures will allow natural water flow and wildlife movement, reflecting the sensitivity of the surrounding ecosystem.

The property will offer 13 accommodation units, including ten villas and three elevated Horizon Terrace Suites. Each unit is positioned for views of the river or bush and features open-air layouts designed to maintain a close connection with the natural environment. A larger Presidential Villa configuration will also be available for small groups or families.

Interiors have been developed by South Africa-based MRS Studio, incorporating locally sourced materials and design elements influenced by the river landscape.

Dining will focus on regional produce and local culinary traditions, with a signature restaurant overlooking the river, a lounge area, and a boma-style space for evening gatherings. Private bush dining will be offered as part of bespoke itineraries.

Wellness facilities will include spa treatments delivered in private settings, a swimming pool, yoga and fitness facilities, and opportunities for stargazing due to the low light pollution in the park.

Safari experiences will be central to the camp’s offering, with guided drives, night safaris, river trips, canoeing and birdwatching. Access to remote areas via private riverboats will allow exploration beyond standard road routes. Kafue National Park is home to a wide range of wildlife and more than 500 bird species.

The camp will be located within Kafue National Park. Access is possible via Livingstone or Lusaka, with onward travel by road or air.
