Airhart Aeronautics appoints Nate Thuli as president to drive next growth phase

Airhart Aeronautics has appointed aerospace and defense executive Nate Thuli as president to guide global strategy, operations and the rollout of its next-generation avionics platform and future personal aircraft program.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Airhart Aeronautics, the company developing what it describes as the safest and most intuitive personal-aviation experience, has appointed aerospace and defense executive Nate Thuli as President. Based in Los Angeles, he will lead strategy, growth and day-to-day operations as the company advances its next-generation avionics platform and prepares the ground for a future clean-sheet aircraft.

Founder and CTO Nikita Ermoshkin said the appointment comes at a critical inflection point for the business. “Airhart is entering a defining chapter – advancing our avionics platform, expanding our flight-test program, and preparing the path toward our aircraft launch,” said Nikita Ermoshkin, Founder & CTO of Airhart Aeronautics. “Nate understands how to bring complex systems to market. His ability to marry disciplined execution with startup-level momentum is exactly what we need as we scale.”

As president, Thuli will focus on operational discipline, strategic partnerships and market expansion. A key near-term priority will be the rollout of Airhart’s pilot-centric avionics suite, which is engineered to integrate across Light Sport (LSA) and MOSAIC aircraft. In parallel, he will help shape the long-term roadmap toward full aircraft certification, an important step for any new platform entering the general and personal aviation markets.

Thuli brings more than 15 years of leadership experience spanning aerospace, defense modernization and emerging technology. His background combines systems-driven management with an entrepreneurial approach to building new solutions, a profile that aligns with Airhart’s emphasis on modular intelligence, human-first design and safety-led innovation in aviation.

Most recently, he served as president and chief operating officer of Alpha Omega Group (AOG), where he led enterprise modernization initiatives for the U.S. Department of Defense and helped convert early-stage technologies into national-security applications. He also founded Nerion, a firm focused on dual-use aerospace technologies and AI-driven defense innovation.

Beyond defense and aerospace, Thuli has experience in consumer technology. He founded HAVA Mug, one of the early ventures exploring intelligent self-heating design for consumer products. He also spent five years as a business mentor at Starburst Aerospace, advising aviation and space startups on growth strategies, fundraising and early-stage product roadmaps.

Earlier in his career, Thuli served as a program manager and officer in the United States Air Force. He worked on major acquisition programs including the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) program, the U.S. Nuclear Detonation Detection System (USNDS), and multi-year portfolio work across space, launch and strategic-mission systems. This combination of lifecycle program discipline and mission-focused design now informs his view of how modern aviation systems should evolve, with an emphasis on simplicity, smarter systems and safety for both pilots and passengers.

“Airhart is bringing modern thinking to a part of aviation primed for meaningful change,” said Thuli. “It’s the future I want to help build – where flying becomes simpler, safer, and fundamentally more human. Our next-generation avionics are the foundation of that shift, and I’m excited about what we’re delivering to the market.”

Thuli holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the United States Air Force Academy and an MBA in Innovation Management from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. For aviation and travel industry stakeholders following the evolution of personal aviation and next-generation avionics, his appointment signals Airhart’s intent to move from development into a more structured phase of testing, certification and market entry.
