AIDA Cruises Opens New Winter Bookings for 2027-28 in the Middle East, Marking AIDAperla Return to the Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Surrounding Destinations
AIDA Cruises opens bookings for its 2027-28 winter season in the Middle East, marking AIDAperla's return to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and nearby destinations after two years.
AIDA Cruises has opened the bookings for its highly awaited 2027-28 winter program, marking the comeback of the AIDAperla to the Middle East as it has been two years since its last visit. The 2017-built ship, AIDAperla, has been scheduled to offer a number of seven to fourteen-night voyages that depart either Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The comeback to the Middle East also has a special value since this will be the first time that the AIDAperla has visited the region with diverse routes that include the most spectacular spots within UAE, Oman, Bahrain, and Qatar.
Cruise Itineraries in the Arabian Gulf and Middle East
Starting December 16, 2027, the AIDAperla will begin its Middle East cruise season, with visits to some of the region’s most popular destinations. In addition to its two homeports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the ship will visit Sir Bani Yas, Khalifa Bin Salman, Muscat, and Doha. These itineraries will offer passengers the chance to explore the Arabian Gulf while enjoying a variety of cultural experiences, luxury shopping, and vibrant modern cities.
The cruises will run through early April 2028, after which the AIDAperla will return to Europe. The vessel, which accommodates 3,250 passengers, will also offer repositioning cruises via Africa, with stops at destinations in the Vanilla Islands, South Africa, and the Canary Islands, further diversifying the travel experiences available to guests.
AIDA Cruises’ Return to the Region
AIDA’s return to the Middle East comes after a two-year absence. The company previously sailed in the region during the 2024-25 winter season, with cruises departing from Dubai onboard the AIDAprima. However, plans to return in the 2025-26 season were canceled midway through the year due to security concerns in the region.
With the 2027-28 winter season now confirmed, AIDA Cruises has expanded its offerings, with the AIDAperla scheduled to visit new ports and provide travelers with even more opportunities to explore the region’s stunning coastlines, deserts, and cities. This return to the Middle East highlights AIDA’s confidence in the region’s tourism appeal and the growth of cruise tourism in the Arabian Gulf.
2027-28 Winter Season Highlights
In addition to the Middle East return, AIDA’s 2027-28 winter season includes more than 300 cruises to various international destinations. Notable highlights of the season include the debut of the AIDAprima in the Caribbean, a region where AIDA Cruises has a growing presence, and a series of longer cruises to warmer destinations departing roundtrip from Germany. These cruises, onboard the AIDAmar, will sail to destinations such as the Azores, Morocco, South America, and the Caribbean, offering passengers the opportunity to explore more distant and exotic locales.
AIDA’s diverse winter season offerings ensure a variety of travel experiences for guests, catering to those interested in everything from cultural exploration in the Middle East to sun-soaked beaches in the Caribbean and natural wonders in South America.
Future Cruise Tourism Growth: Boosting Regional Connectivity and Economic Growth
AIDA’s renewed presence in the Middle East comes at a time when cruise tourism in the region is on the rise. The Middle East, especially the Arabian Gulf, has increasingly become a key player in the global cruise market, attracting travelers from around the world looking for luxury cruises, cultural experiences, and modern amenities. By offering cruises that connect Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other popular destinations, AIDA Cruises is helping to shape the region’s growth as a premier cruise destination.
Additionally, AIDA Cruises is playing a critical role in boosting tourism flows to the Middle East, benefiting not only the cruise industry but also the local economies in key ports like Doha and Muscat, where visitors spend money on excursions, shopping, and cultural activities.
Long-Term Impact on Cruise Tourism in the Middle East
Looking ahead, AIDA Cruises’ return to the Middle East is expected to contribute significantly to the region’s cruise tourism growth. The increasing popularity of luxury cruises and multi-destination itineraries will likely lead to more international visitors, benefiting the broader tourism infrastructure in the Arabian Gulf. The expansion of cruise lines like AIDA will help foster better regional connectivity, offering tourists a wider range of destinations in the Middle East and beyond.
As more cruise lines follow AIDA’s lead and include the Middle East in their itineraries, the region could see expanded infrastructure investments in ports, hotels, and excursion options. This would further solidify the Arabian Gulf as a key player in the global cruise market, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi becoming major hubs for luxury cruises traveling to and from Europe, Africa, and Asia.
AIDA Cruises Growing Influence in the Middle East and Beyond
The introduction of the AIDAperla to the Middle East routes for the upcoming winter schedule of 2027/28 is a clear indication of the continuing support for a cruise brand with a global strategy and ambition to enhance the currently available range of destinations. Through its reintroduction in the Arabian Gulf, AIDA Cruises broadens its reach in the region.
With the rising demand for cruises in the region, the strategic expansion of AIDA Cruises is expected to ensure a positive impact of tourism and economic benefits for the region. This is only the start of AIDA’s vision of positioning the Middle East as a significant destination for luxury cruises.
