A New Standard for the Danube: Riviera Travel Unveils “Riviera Reflection” for 2027
Riviera Travel expands its fleet with the Riviera Reflection, launching on the Danube in 2027.
For over 40 years, Riviera Travel has built its reputation on “understated luxury”—the kind of travel that values space, light, and genuine connection over flashy gimmicks. The Riviera Reflection is the culmination of that philosophy.
As a sister ship to the Riviera Radiance (launched in 2025) and the Riviera Resplendence (debuting in 2026), the Reflection is the third vessel in the innovative Radiance Class. It is specifically designed to navigate the historic waters of the Danube, bringing a contemporary, boutique-hotel feel to Europe’s most iconic waterway.
Redefining Space: The Radiance Design
The “Radiance” name isn’t just marketing; it refers to the ship’s signature split-level design. By reconfiguring the traditional layout, Riviera has created a lounge and dining area that feels significantly more open and flooded with natural light.
The ship will accommodate 178 guests across 89 cabins, but it is the suite distribution that is truly turning heads. In 2027, travelers are demanding more than just a place to sleep; they want a private sanctuary.
| Cabin Category | Size | Key Features |
| Grand Suite | 344 sq. ft. | Separate living/sleeping areas, full private balcony with seating. |
| Superior Suite | 258 sq. ft. | Floor-to-ceiling French balconies, spacious living area with sofa. |
| Standard Cabin | 172 sq. ft. | French balconies (Diamond/Ruby decks) or fixed windows (Emerald). |
The Grand Suites on the Diamond Deck are particularly noteworthy. Measuring 32 square meters, they feature a full walk-out balcony—a rarity on many European river ships where “French balconies” (sliding glass doors) are the standard.
The “Mosaic” Culinary Experience
A major highlight of the new ship is the introduction of Mosaic, Riviera’s third dining concept. While most river ships offer a main dining room and perhaps a lighter stern-side café, the Radiance Class introduces a more intimate, atmospheric venue. Inspired by the idea of many small pieces creating a beautiful whole, Mosaic offers a menu focused on the diverse flavors of Europe, served in a space with subtle, elegant design touches.
The 2027 Pivot: Solos and the Mekong
While the Riviera Reflection will be the star of the Danube, Riviera Travel is using 2027 to address two of the biggest trends in modern travel: independent exploration and exotic expansion.
The Solo Revolution: Starting in June 2027, the MS George Eliot will be repurposed as the world’s first river cruise ship dedicated exclusively to solo travelers. Every single departure will be solo-only, featuring no single supplements and a high crew-to-guest ratio (1:2) to ensure a social, supported atmosphere for independent explorers.
Asian Horizons: For the first time, Riviera is heading beyond Europe with the launch of the Riviera Alba on the Mekong River. This 50-guest vessel will bring the brand’s signature Swiss-operated quality to the waterways of Vietnam and Cambodia.
Humanizing the Voyage: Why It Matters
In an industry often obsessed with “more”—more slides, more decks, more passengers—Riviera’s expansion is refreshing because it focuses on the quality of the human experience.
“We are thrilled to introduce Riviera Reflection,” says Stuart Milan, President of North America for Riviera Travel. “The response to the Radiance Class has been incredible because it embodies the spirit of refined travel. It’s about being on a ship that feels like a boutique hotel, where you have the space to breathe and the intimacy to actually see the river you’re sailing.”
How to Book Your 2027 Journey
If you have your heart set on a Grand Suite for a Danube sailing, you’ll need to mark your calendar. Sales for the Riviera Reflection officially open on March 18, 2026.
The ship is expected to begin its inaugural season in September 2027, perfectly timed for the autumn colors of the Wachau Valley and the cultural festivities of Vienna and Budapest.
